New Media – “It’s the creative stupid” – Kevin Spacey

In his MacTaggart Memorial lecture Kevin Spacey made some hugely important points.

My respect for him just went through the roof.

From his opening comment of ‘My banner would be ” It’s the Creative Stupid” ‘through to a well reasoned presentation about the changing nature of how and where we consume content to the whay we have begun to expect access via multiple channels, this is probably one of the most important speeches of the year.

His description how social media fits into modern family life is both funny and apt – “looking on Facebook to see where the kids are” and “granny posting more cat pictures”.

He also highlights how his experience on “House of Cards” with Netflix shows that audiences want more control over how they view stories. It’s a great video to watch and I highly recommend it.
